This Sunday will see more than 5,000 men and women running through Rosedale in the 22nd 3M Half Marathon. Traffic is sure to be disrupted during the race, which starts at 7 a.m. The route comes into Rosedale from the north on Shoal Creek, turning east onto 45th Street, continuing past The Triangle to Duval. The race continues to the finish line at Congress and 17th Street, ending officially at 11 a.m. Come and see what Outside Magazine calls one of the 10 most iconic races in the U.S.
If you’ve been out at 6 a.m. recently you may have seen the city watering the newer trees in Ramsey Park. Using reclaimed water, they place six buckets (with lots of holes) around each tree to help ensure the correct amount of water is delivered to the tree drip line. Given our current relapse back into drought, and our love of a shady park, the neighborhood owes a big “Thanks!” to the city. One way we can do that, and help ourselves, is to sign up to help plant new trees and mulch existing trees on November 21th. During the event, from 9 a.m. to noon, we will plant 30 new trees and mulch many of the mature trees. The event is a collaboration between the City of Austin Urban Forestry Program and the Rosedale Neighborhood Association. Sign up today to say Thanks! to the city and to help improve our jewel of the Rosedale neighborhood.
Join your neighbors at Ramsey Park to celebrate the 4th of July!

One of the ‘cool houses’ in Rosedale is to be featured as a part of the 19th annual Cool House Tour on Sunday, June 7th. The tour is self-guided, showcasing homes and projects designed and built to high standards of energy efficiency, comfort and attractive design. One of the homes on the tour is referred to as a “Rosedale rebuild” by its builder who has a nice write up with pictures detailing the recent redo. The Cool House Tour is a resource for learning how to live comfortably in the hot Central Texas climate.
