Plan now to join your neighbors at Stinson’s on Labor Day for a fund raiser benefiting the Rosedale’s Ramsey Park improvement project. For this “Neighbors Night Out” Stinson’s will be donating 20% of all sales to the Ramsey Park Improvement Fund! Wine, dine, and shop at the event to raise money for planned park improvements!
Make plans now to join your neighbors at the biggest Rosedale event of the year: the July 4th Carnival in (and around) Ramsey Park. The schedule for the event is below. Given the event’s size and scope, donations and volunteers are crucial. To donate baked goods and sliced watermelon, please contact Felicia Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteers are needed to help with carnival games, set up and clean up.
Movie Night in the Park was terrific! Don’t you love Shrek? So let’s step back 400 years!! Bring your chairs and blankets and spend another great night in Ramsey Park!! Come see Hamlet presented free by Something For Nothing Theater Austin. This is the same troupe that brought us Two Gentlemen of Verona last year and The Comedy of Errors in 2012. Hamlet will be presented in Ramsey Park Thursdays through Sundays, May 22 – June 7 at 8 p.m. facebook.com/somethingfornothingtheater
Movie Night is coming back to Ramsey Park! On May 3rd, Shrek, Princess Fiona and their sidekick Donkey will arrive on the big screen to entertain. Festivities will start at 7pm, and the movie will start around 8:15.
Allison Allen has recruited a number of local sponsors to help making this wonderful event possible. Everyone’s invited and green faces, little ogres and Princess Fiona look-alikes are encouraged!
About 1/2 mile west of Rosedale, just on the other side of Mopac (Loop 1) is Camp Mabry and April 26 and 27th will be one of your best opportunities of the year to find out all about the camp. There will be an open house, reenactments of WWII battles, air shows, a band, dancers, demonstrations, and more. Learn more about Camp Mabry and Muster Day on their website. The event is free but don’t forget to bring a photo ID for admission onto the post. And even if you don’t take advantage of this event, you’ll undoubtedly hear some of the noise coming from out west.
The sixth annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour (FCCT) will be Saturday, April 19th, and headquarters are just a short walk from Rosedale over at the Sunshine Community Gardens. For the poultry sum of $12 you can see Sunshine Community Garden’s own 600 square foot coop, plus a baker’s dozen of other interesting hen houses around town. There’s no connection to the Rosedale Neighborhood Association (other than most of us enjoy eggs from time to time), but there are coops in the neighborhood and they may have even been a part of the FCCT in years past.
The Rosedale name has as interesting history and has been applied to many things, including our own neighborhood and an annual bicycle ride that this year is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary. This year’s ride is on March, 22nd.
The Rosedale Ride raises money for the Rosedale Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to support the children of The Rosedale School. The school at 2117 W 49th St, is AISD’s only school for children with multiple disabilities.
The annual Sunshine Gardens Benefit Plant Sale will happen on Saturday, March 1st, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.. You can fill your spring garden with organic and heirloom vegetable starts and herbs at Sunshine Community Gardens Plant Sale. Choose from over 130 colorful varieties of tomatoes, 70 varieties of peppers, 15 varieties of eggplant, 5 varieties of tomatillos and a wide selection of herbs, ornamentals and more. Nourish those babies and the rest of your garden with bag-your-own compost
Please join your neighbors at Ramsey Park starting at 9:30am with decorating bikes, hats, and strollers. The promenade around the park begins at 10am, followed by watermelon and the popular water balloon toss. From 10:30 to noon, enjoy the fun of the carnival, bake sale, cold drinks, and visiting with neighbors. We hope to see you and your family there!
July 4th is almost on us and we need LOTS of help with the Ramsey Park carnival! Kids are welcome to volunteer with their parents and teenagers are welcome to volunteer with or without their parents! Please let Mindy Marble know asap which games you can help with. Shifts are only 45 minutes so everyone can enjoy the carnival. We also need baked items (contact Felicia Adams) and watermelon (contact Joyce Brown). See contact information on the yahoogroup and in the most recent Rosedalian newsletter or send an email to email@example.com
