RNA Meeting Tuesday, June 18 at Rudy’s

The next meeting of the Rosedale Neighborhood Association will be held in the back room at Rudy’s BBQ on Tuesday, June 18, at 7 pm. This is in lieu of the regularly scheduled meeting for June 4, which is cancelled.

The June 18 meeting will focus primarily on the City of Austin’s new rewrite of the Land Development Code. The current rewrite revisits many of the same goals and changes that were proposed by CodeNext, and has the same potential to profoundly change the way Rosedale and the remainder of the city develops. It is on a fast track, and has substantial council support. I urge everyone in Rosedale to become informed regarding this matter.

Some comments from Council Member Leslie Pool regarding the new code rewrite are posted here: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/rosedale/conversations/messages/51227

Recent comments from Council Member Alison Alter are here: https://app.getresponse.com/view.html?x=a62b&m=TAOCf&u=STGys&y=0&dont_redirect=1&fbclid=IwAR2HH9qDyxvSUOYzEx4v-14Aumg3rrZNhGS291llTAB9YGsncdSzkz2iHb4

The official site for the Land Development Code is: http://austintexas.gov/ldc

Thanks everyone. Additional announcements will follow as we approach June 18.

RNA Annual Meeting & Holiday Social Tuesday Dec. 18 at Rudy’s

Dear Neighbors,

Consider joining us next Tuesday evening 7-9 pm at Rudy’s BBQ on Lamar Blvd in the Crockett Room (on the south end). We will enjoy the food, elect our 2019 officers and Steering Committee members, and discuss proposed changes to the RNA bylaws.

But mostly this is an excuse to meet and mingle with your neighbors.

To read about the proposed bylaw amendments:
Proposed bylaws: RNA-by-laws-proposed-20181108
Motivation for changes to the by-laws: RNA-by-laws-motivation-20181108

There are a few other items we will discuss, including our meeting schedule for 2019. As you may know, we won’t have a regular library meeting room until the Yarborough Library completes its planned but postponed remodeling.

We will also discuss the changes to Shoal Creek Blvd. proposed by the Shoal Creek Conservancy. Check it out at https://shoalcreekconservancy.org/

We’ll remind you about the Annual Meeting again, but please mark your holiday calendars!

May 8th Neighborhood Happy Hour

Hello Rosedalians,

I wanted to plan a fun Happy Hour for our neighborhood and reached out to our newest Rosedale restaurant to see if they would be interested in partnering up to host it. The Guild, https://guildaustin.com/, has not only cheerfully agreed, but will run drink specials for us and offer a few appetizers for us to try (first come, first serve). How nice, right?!?

I am curious and excited to check them out and I bet you are too! So, spread the word and mark your calendars- May 8th from 5:00-6:30 PM (3800 N Lamar Blvd Suite 170, Austin, TX 78756). I look forward to seeing you all there for a relaxed evening of socializing among friends, both old and new.

P.S. If you are thinking you may stay for dinner after, you may want to make a reservation.
