CANCELLED: Rosedale’s July 4th celebration for 2025

Friday, July 4th, 2025, 10:00am to noon, at Ramsey Park

Click the ‘play’ arrow to view pictures from the 2024 celebration

Neighbors, we regret we must cancel this year’s July 4th event. The projected times of the storm perfectly span our scheduled 10-12 time frame, making it unsafe to collect folks in the park.

Please stay safe. See you at the end-of-season Ramsey pool party August 17!

Join us for a promenade around Ramsey Park, live music, watermelon slices, bake sale, water balloon tossing contest, and carnival games for the kiddos!

Our 4th of July celebration is fast approaching. We hope you can join us as neighbors come together at Ramsey Park and have a great time!

  • Arrive by 10:00am to decorate bikes/scooters/strollers/pets with decorations we provide or decorate at home if you prefer.
  • A bit after 10:00, join our traditional promenade around Ramsey Park.
  • After the promenade, enjoy watermelon slices, live music, the bake sale, a water balloon tossing contest, and (if we have enough volunteers) carnival games for the kiddos (see below to volunteer!).
  • After the celebration ends at noon, join the recreational swim at Ramsey Pool, which will be open noon to 7pm on the 4th of July!

All proceeds from the bake sale and carnival are used for park improvements.

URGENT: Volunteers needed!

Please help bring our sweet neighborhood tradition back in full this year! Among the volunteer tasks: donating drinks and baked goods, loaning camping chairs and tables, setting up before, and cleaning up after. We have many carnival shifts available (perfect for middle and high schoolers). The carnival can only happen if we have plenty of volunteers, so please consider volunteering for a shift.

July 4th Bake Sale – WE NEED YOU!

The bake sale is a popular spot at the celebration each year. It always raises a good amount of money and, like the carnival, all proceeds go into the fund for Ramsey Park improvements.
Come by for a snack and fabulous cookies to take home with you! We’ll have tacos (first come, first served) and would welcome additional business donations (contact Felicia at the number or email below!).
The most popular items are lovingly home-baked goodies by our very own Rosedale neighbors. We normally sell out! Please consider donating goodies that kids find irresistible, as well as items for a more grown-up palate. Ideas of what to bring:

  • individual baggies or plates of cookies or brownies
  • decorated cookies, cupcakes, and cake balls
  • individually packaged slices of bread, e.g. banana, pumpkin, etc.
  • whole loaves of cakes and breads, (e.g. pound cake, pumpkin bread)
  • small whole cobblers in takeaway pans
  • pies in takeaway pans
  • gluten-free items are also popular
  • any kind of baked goods that neighbors might enjoy

No large and elaborate cakes please (these don’t sell well).
Please bring items to the bake sale tables by 9:30 – 10:00 am.

On Monday, August 16, at 7pm, please join us for an on-line RNA meeting. Our guest will be Aaron Goldman, Program Specialist at Yarborough Library, who would like to discuss mutual support and simply connect. He suggests: “I was thinking a general dialogue and connection would be great. Beyond how people are doing I had a few ideas for some general questions: What people are feeling passionate about within the neighborhood, what assets (strengths) do you recognize within your association, what are organizations and physical spaces throughout the neighborhood you value, etc.”

The Steering Committee will also share updates about projects such as the one at the State Hospital and other neighborhood activities.

Time: Aug 16, 2021 07:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)

For information and how to log in, please check the Rosedale mailing list or contact the webmasters (webmaster@rosedaleaustin.org).

Due to COVID-19 and the necessary precautions, this year’s July 4th celebrations are of a very different nature. The Rosedale Neighborhood Association invites neighbors to participate in a patriotic neighborhood hunt instead! We can’t be together in the traditional way, but we can still celebrate.

Three ways to participate!
(1) Decorate for others to enjoy
(2) Safely explore the neighborhood to admire
(3) Share photos!

See below for details. Questions? Contact Vicki Almstrum, almstrum@gmail.com.

Decorate!

  • Set up patriotic decorations in your yard, in your windows, on your house.
  • Timing:
    • Ready to view by 8am on July 4th.
    • Remain up until at least the evening of July 11th.
  • Ideas for decorations — use your imagination!
    • A flag hung from your home
    • A stuffed animal in a patriotic outfit
    • A chalk-decorated sidewalk near the street
    • A yard sign with patriotic decorations

    • A decorated vehicle parked in front of the house.
