Teo Espresso, Gelato, and Bella Vita, from right here in Rosedale, placed in the top three for best gelato in the US and will head to Italy to compete in the world final. Sixteen of the best gelato chefs from the United States went head to head this past weekend in Austin in the Gelato World Tour North American Finals. The top three US finishers go to Italy in September to compete in the finale against winners of similar events in German, Italy and five other countries. The event in Austin was held over three days, involved free gelato tastings, and professional judging as well as input from the general public. Teo won with a flavor combining peanut butter and chocolate hazelnut.
