Subject: Construction Notice

As you are hopefully already aware, Capital Metro will soon launch our new MetroRapid service (http://www.capmetro.org/metrorapid/) on the Burnet Road corridor.

We want to make neighbors aware that construction will begin Monday March 24th on the southbound MetroRapid Station located near the intersection of Burnet Road and North Loop.  Since the new station will replace the existing bus stop at that location, the canopy at the existing stop will be removed on Friday (3/21) in preparation for work to begin.  The existing stop will be moved to a temporary location further to the south first thing Monday morning (03/24).  Work on the new MetroRapid station foundation and sidewalk is expected to take approximately 3-4 days.

Immediately following the completion of this station, Capital Metro’s contractor will begin work on the northbound station located in front of Whitney Motorcars.  There is no existing bus stop at this location and the work will also take 3-4 days.

The contractor will require the use of one lane of Burnet road during the construction period for both stations, and drivers should expect delays.  Hours for the southbound station construction will be 9 am to 6 pm,  and northbound 7 am to 4 pm.

Canopies for both stations will be installed in approximately one month.  The installation should take only 2-3 hours each.

MetroRapid service is expected to begin in late summer.  Please email metrorapid@capmetro.org with any questions or concerns.
