Sounds of the Civil War may reach Rosedale this weekend

gunsof18632016The Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry, just the other side of Mapac west of Rosedale, will commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War on March 12th and 13th.  They’ll be putting on a special program, The Guns of 1863, at 1 pm where you can get an up close and personal look at how soldiers on both sides lived during the war. They’ll have a firing demonstration of some of the Civil War’s most famous weapons, and have volunteers from the museum who will explain the uniforms and equipment used by the troops, why they carried flags into battle and the role of drums and bugles in the war. The camp areas will be open to the public from 9 am to 4 pm. Learn more at http://texasmilitaryforcesmuseum.org/event/2175/
